Abstract: |
Monitoring of trenches for a new main found few archaeological deposits or features. To the south of Branston Church, a 14m wide feature was identified. This may have represented a backfilled watercourse or possible boundary ditch associated with a medieval manorial site. In Main Road, Washingborough, the road was found to be based on peat. This suggested that the road may not have been early in date, unless the Roman Car Dyke canal had already produced tractable land off the limestone at the fen edge. [Au] |
