Abstract: |
As the result of an archaeological condition on the planning permission for the conversion of two timber framed barns to dwellings, The Heritage Network was commissioned to record the buildings and monitor the development groundworks. Barn 1 was a mid-19th century industrial threshing barn, and Barn 2, although originally considered to be 18th century in date, proved to be of 16th century origin. Monitoring of the groundworks demonstrated that the farmyard had been well used and regularly maintained during the post-medieval period and more recently, but no evidence for earlier activity was noted.
