Abstract: |
A desk top assessment of the proposed site of a residential development was undertaken. A medieval moated manor had lain to the north-west; a nearby 18th century farmhouse, demolished in 1976, had reputedly been constructed using building materials from the earlier house. In the surrounding area, scatters of prehistoric flint, a bronze age enclosure and Roman farmsteads had been recorded. It was concluded that the site had some archaeological potential, although any deposits present were likely to have been damaged to some degree by previous landscaping. An evaluation was recommended.
