Abstract: |
The desk-based archaeological assessment for the proposed residential development of the site showed that archaeological remains were known in the vicinity and that there was the possibility of similar deposits within the development area. The desk-based assessment indicated that archaeological remains may be located within the development area. Roman and medieval remains were situated in the vicinity and the streamside location may have been favourable for the preservation of waterlogged deposits. Map evidence indicated that the site had not been significantly built on since 1752. Therefore any remains may have been well preserved beneath the present ground surface. [Au(adp)] |
