Abstract: |
Monitoring of the excavation of the foundation trenches revealed evidence for previous structures on the site, 18th century brickwork having been laid, in at least one instance, upon rubble stone walling that followed a different alignment. This rubble stone in its turn had been laid on at least one course of dressed stone probably dating from the late medieval period. Finds recovered from the site dated from the medieval period through to the 18th century. Most intriguing of these was 13/14th century jug that had been broken and reused as a paint pot. [Au(abr)] |
