Abstract: |
Resistivity and magnetometer surveys were undertaken as part of a wider evaluation of the archaeological implications of the construction of the Staythorpe Power Station - Averham bypass. Cropmark evidence recorded a possible ring ditch feature and a section of parallel double ditches on or close to the road route. Two areas were surveyed. In area A anomalies consistent with ditch features were recorded with a secondary linear anomaly running perpendicular to the ditch feature anomalies. In area B, the survey was dominated by the underlying geology, with ferrous waste within the topsoil and from the trackway from the southern end of the area. No clear anomlaies were noted in area B.
