Abstract:
The evaluation consisted of 146 trial trenches and identified two significant areas of activity. All the features identified were enclosure and drainage ditches mostly of post-medieval date. A Middle to Late Bronze Age pit containing the base of a more substantial pit was located toward the south west of the site. An area of predominantly Iron Age, Roman and medieval activity consisting of linear features and pits was contained in an 'L' shaped area running parallel with Burnthouse Ride and Peakcock Lane. To the east a trench was excavated containing prehistoric pottery as well as a substantial brick constructed post-medieval kiln. [Au(abr)]
