Abstract: |
An archaeological evaluation was undertaken prior to the construction of an access route to the Cathedral, to enhance the fire protection facilities of the building. Two trenches were mechanically excavated. A sondage was sunk in trench 2 to ascertain the thickness of a make-up deposit encountered. The western section of the sondage displayed grave-cuts and pits, which appeared to contain medieval pottery. Detailed recording was deemed unsafe due to the danger of collapse. [AIP] |
