Abstract:
An archaeological watching brief was carried out during ground works for new industrial units. Two inter-connecting ditches and a small pit of Late Bronze Age to Iron Age date were exposed. A second cut feature was found to be very shallow and did not contain any datable cultural material. A deposit of colluvium was observed along the length of the new road may have masked further remains. The work highlighted the potential for further prehistoric and later remains on the areas earmarked fro the construction of units. The presence of prehistoric remains highlighted the use of the area in the later Bronze Age and Iron Age as previously indicated by archaeological work undertaken KARU and during more recent evaluation and excavation to the north-east off Foster Road.
