Abstract: |
The assessment was undertaken during the construction of disabled access and related improvements at Whalley Abbey Conference House, which was subject to Listed Building Consent, and Scheduled Monument Consent. The Conference House comprised a mansion, which incorporated parts of the Cistercian abbey, founded in 1296 and dissolved in 1537/8. The Asheton manor house was built on monastic plinth work. The west wing of c1866-72 was built on the site of the northern part of the Long Gallery range. [Au(abr)] |
