Abstract: |
Observation of various trenches for the underpinning of the rear part of a shop at 19 High Ousegate revealed that the area had been considerably disturbed in the 19th and 20th centuries. At the front of the area observed, this disturbance extended to a depth of c.0.7m below the modern shop floor. The rear of the area had been disturbed to a greater depth and may have been the site of a backfilled cellar. Some deposits and features of potential archaeological interest were recorded in the front area. [Au(abr)] |
