Collates medieval documentary evidence for numbers of sheep pastured on land to the seaward side of the Haudike sea bank. Surviving parts of the bank are noted, and the effects of coastal change on the width of the outmarsh since medieval times are considered.

Summarises results of eight weeks of investigations at this rural settlement site. Although LIA occupation was indicated, the main period of occupation began in the early-second century AD, and included agricultural buildings and dwellings. Several phases of replanning were evinced.

Describes the triple ditches excavated at Risholme Lane, Nettleham. The features were better preserved here than at Nettleham Glebe, and pottery from Late Iron Age and Roman periods was recovered from the fill of the ditches. The findings are considered in terms of existing knowledge of the limestone uplands in the later Iron Age.

Notes the results of two recent investigations at the scheduled ancient monument, now identified as a moated site. Boundary ditches of Saxon, medieval, and later date were excavated, and medieval walls were uncovered. A circular feature, identified by geophysical survey, is tentatively interpreted as round barrow; human remains, possibly from the barrow, were found in the fill of a later ditch.

Report on excavations conducted at a hilltop site, near Caistor, which was revealed during quarrying. Although deposits were truncated by ploughing and erosion, the small area of land as yet untouched by quarrying yielded remains of a Saxon settlement, comprising three Grubenhäuser, and possible Bronze Age barrow evinced by a group of three buried pots, one containing a cremation. Scattered finds of Mesolithic and Neolithic date were also found, thus indicating a long history of occupation in the vicinity. There are sections discussing the prehistoric and Anglo-Saxon pottery, general metal finds, Anglo-Saxon vessel glass, and Anglo Saxon loomweights. Specialist contributions comprise: `The struck flint' by Frances Healy (15-19); `The Bronze Age cremation burial' by Jacqueline McKinley (19); `The great square-headed brooch' by John Hines (26-7); `Animal bones from Anglo-Saxon deposits' by David Berg (30-4); and `The carbonized plant remains' by Wendy J Carruthers (34-5). The report concludes with a general discussion of evidence for Anglo-Saxon settlement in the Caistor area.

Lists the main observations derived from an evaluation on the Uffington estate, including part of the River Welland floodplain. Various types of occupation, from Mesolithic to medieval, were in evidence (see also {1}).

Notes the excavation of three Bronze Age and Early Iron Age pit groups, and features associated with wartime use of the airfield. Neolithic and Bronze Age flint was also recovered from ploughsoil. A subsequent watching brief recorded part of the scheduled Iron Age & Romano-British settlement site, which was exposed during works to upgrade the runway.

Describes a blade tool discovered during fieldwalking, which is dated typologically to c 12,500-10,000 bp and has parallels from the Gipping deposits at Ipswich.
