Reports on two stages of excavation, carried out in 1994 and 1995 respectively, on the site of the former Olivetti House. The first stage revealed undisturbed alluvial deposits below the foundations of the basement; the second stage exposed a section of the thirteenth-century town wall, known as the Marsh Wall.

G L Good

Reports on the excavations conducted in 1989 to uncover the remains of the twelfth-century stone keep for public display. The motte and bailey ditches were also partially investigated . The results are discussed in relation to previous work on the site. The section on `The Finds' is by G L Good (33--45). Copper-alloy and iron objects and animal remains are not covered, but there are reports on: stone, bone and lead objects, `The pottery' by Rod Burchill (35--8); clay tobacco-pipes; glass vessels; and building stone.

Rod Burchill

An archaeological evaluation at Temple Way, Bristol
S. Cox
53 - 56
Reports on an excavation conducted in 1997 to evaluate the potential for environmental analysis of a buried medieval soil horizon. A thirteenth-century pit and group of postholes are thought to relate to the construction of tenter racks for drying cloth. A possible `B' horizon is dated to the mid-fourteenth century, while the `A' horizon is thought to have been open ground until the late seventeenth century.

Donna E Yorkston

Excavations conducted in 1995 revealed evidence of medieval settlement, with some finds prehistoric and Roman date. The medieval occupation included Saxo-Norman boundary ditches and a substantial stone building dating from the late thirteenth to mid-fourteenth century. Few post-medieval structure were found. Specialist reports comprise: `The pottery' by Rod Burchill (66--9); `The animal bone' by Geraldine Barber (69--70); `Environmental remains -- plant macrofossil analysis' by Kath Hunter (70--4); and `Fish bone' by Alison Locker (74).
