Begins with an overview of the geology of the region and continues with a history of sand and gravel extraction from the early modern period to the present day. Next looks at the process of sand and gravel extraction, including how the sites for extraction are chosen. Impact of extraction on the landscape is then considered, with case studies of various sites. Ends with a discussion of the people who work(ed) in sand and gravel extraction, and the changes in health and safety and management techniques over the years. PP-B
