Abstract: |
Reports on the features discovered in an area excavated to the east of the nave and up slope of the 1992 excavations (see 93/1200). Occupation ran from the pre-Northumbrian period to the seventeenth century. Several phases of timber and wicker-and-daub buildings were identified, along with remains of a long-lived water supply system that possibly distributed water piped from 2.5km upstream of the Ket burn. Seven burials were excavated, dating from after the eleventh or twelfth century. There was also evidence of ironsmithing and lead and copper working. |
