Archaeol S Yorkshire

Reports an assessment of the areas of archaeological/historical interest along the River Don between Lady's Bridge and Hillfoot Bridge, which could be interpreted along the course of a possible riverside walk/cycleway. Areas of interest include: Sheffield Castle; Lady's Bridge; the Town Corn Mill; The medieval waterfront; several post-medieval water mills; the Sheffield Union Workhouse; and the Dale Dyke Dam disaster. Also addresses the general character and archaeological potential of the riverside area.

Reports the investigation of a pair of lowland enclosures, dating to the Iron Age, which occupy opposing sides of a palaeo-channel within a woodland. The sites have produced exceptionally well preserved organic material, however the quality of preservation is currently deteriorating due to agricultural drainage in the area.

Reports fieldwork conducted at Bilham Belvedere, a dilapidated summer house on the Brodsworth Estate. These investigations attempted to provenance the building materials used, establish a chronology for the building, establish the nature and conditions of the foundations, and produce a visual reconstruction of the building.
