Abstract: |
This synthesis aims to integrate the main conclusions of the reports on human bones, animal bones, bird bones and fish bones together with those on molluscs and carbonised plant remains. Using this evidence it is possible to reconstruct the environmental history of the area of the cairn, together with indications of the ritual activity at the site which involved the interment of cremated and inhumed burials. Some animals may have been cremated with the human burials, whilst other animal bones may represent the remains of food used by the living, or simply be animals that lived in the vicinity of the cairn. |
