Abstract: |
Reports on a geophysical survey on the site of the Roman villa at Park Farm, which investigated remains uncovered there during 1971--72. Although ground conditions made it impossible to detect traces of the villa building itself, evidence was found for possible associated activity. This included several putative defensive ditches and a number of anomalies almost certainly associated with ironworking. A limited survey was also carried out at a second and unrelated site on the farm, thought to be the location of a medieval chapel. Results at this site were less clear but a possible wall footing was detected. |
