Abstract: |
A fired clay hearth, associated with salt production, was discovered during an archaeological excavation at Cowbit in Lincolnshire. Archaeomagnetic analysis of the feature revealed that it had been disturbed since it was last fired and it was therefore undatable. An appendix gives standard procedures for sampling and measurement (11--12). |
