The abstract describing the content of the publication or report
Abstract:		 Quantitative analysis of 20 glass beads from this Early Anglo-Saxon inhumation cemetery showed that they are soda-lime-silica glasses, adapted through the use of various colourants and opacifiers. The compositions are comparable to those found at contemporary sites in Essex (Mucking) and Sussex (Apple Down), indicating widespread homogeneity in the glass supply, perhaps due to the use of cullet. Examination of cross-sections of the glasses showed that a variety of inclusions were present, apart from intended opacifiers/colourants. Some of these are devitrification products but others are relict batch materials and contamination during manufacture.
