Abstract: |
Archaeological monitoring was carried out during underpinning operations undertaken on the extant house and the digging of strip foundations for a double garage to the rear of the property. During underpinning a small wall stub pre-dating the existing house (but still of post-medieval date) was recorded. A small amount of redeposited human bone was also recovered from a large pit or make-up deposit beneath the foundations. Its exposure was too small to enable further interpretation. In the area of the garage up to 0.8m of post-medieval overburden was recorded overlying undisturbed natural sands. A single post-medieval brick lined storage pit was recorded. No earlier features or finds were encountered. |
