Abstract: |
Northamptonshire Archaeology conducted a geophysical survey, on behalf of George Wimpey South Midlands, on an area of land proposed for residential, community and commercial development at Newton Leys, Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire. Detailed gradiometry was undertaken in seven fields over an area totalling approximately 28.25 ha. The presence of modern detritus on the field surface over a large part of the area caused some magnetic disturbance. However, archaeological features comprising circular and subrectangular enclosures were located towards the south in an area free from the modern disturbance. Elsewhere, anomalies interpreted as medieval ridge and furrow cultivation were also discovered |
