The abstract describing the content of the publication or report
Abstract:		 A watching brief followed an evaluation on the site of a new library in Hungerford. Three components of work were monitored: the digging of a geotechnical pit; initial topsoil stripping and ground reduction; and the digging of foundation trenches. No features of archaeological note were uncovered. Apart from variations in the natural geology, no features were observed or artefacts uncovered in the footings and the watching brief report concluded that any activity related to modern times and comprised landscaping, dumping and construction activity linked to the earlier library building and construction of the nearby railway embankment.
