Abstract:
Heybridge Hall was a fine 13th century and later listed building which burnt down in 2004. SAn archaeological evaluation in 2007 revealed evidence for occupation in the Late Iron Age and Roman periods, abd possibly in the Middle Iron Age. The trenches uncovered a medieval ditch to the east of the hall but no structural evidence such as post-hole or slots. The few sherds of medieval pottery from this ditch and other residual contexts support the a 12th or 13th century date for the foundation of the medieval hall complex
