Abstract:		 Prior to a road improvement scheme to the immediate south of Langholm, Dumfries and Galloway, A desk based assessment, walkover survey and archaeolgical evaluation were completed on the propsed road scheme. The archaeological works exposed 10 % of the total area open to archaeological evaluation, which amounted to 13,420 m2 of trenching. A single feature comprising a stone alignment was identified in three trenches. A watching brief was subsequently conducted on a fragment of the proposed development in an attempt to characterise and date the feature.
