Abstract: |
Topsoil stripping associated with the creation of a new landfill facility at Trood Lane, Exminster was monitored by Exeter Archaeology. Eight trenches were excavated across the western side of a narrow north south valley to subsoil level. an average of 0.25m of topsoil was removed.A series of narrow, regular land drains were exposed on various alignments within the trenches. The presence of asbestos within the infill indicated that these features were of 20th century origin. No other features of archaeological significance were exposed throughout the remainder of the topsoil removal. |
