Abstract: |
An archaeological evaluation was undertaken by Cotswold Archaeology in September 2009 at the request of WSP Environmental Ltd of land at the Fire Service College, Moreton-in-Marsh, Gloucestershire. Eighteen trenches were excavated. Six ditches, three pits, two postholes, and an irregular linear feature were identified. The ditches appeared to form part of a field or enclosure system and the linear feature may represent the remains of an associated hedge line. None of the features contained dateable artefacts and could be of prehistoric or late date, although evidence from the vicinity would suggest a Roman or medieval date is more likely. |
