Abstract: |
An archaeological watching brief was undertaken by Cotswold Archaeology in August 2010 during groundworks associated with the construction of a single storey extension at 12 High Street, Malmesbury. No finds were retrieved during the course of the watching brief that pre-dated the modern period. The earliest deposit encountered appeared to comprise a make-up deposit of post-medieval/modern date into or onto which two walls had been built. The walls identified are likely to relate to 19th-century outbuildings depicted on the 1889 First Edition Ordnance Survey map. |
