Abstract: |
A Desk Based Assessment, consisting of an examination of the Suffolk Historic Environment Record, documentary and cartographic search, and historic building assessment established that the site consists of the manor of Drinkstone Lovayne, a medieval moated site of high status. The medieval Hall appears to have been demolished soon after its sale in 1841 to be replaced in the mid 19th century by the current Drinkstone Hall Farm. A program of archaeological evaluation by trial trenching has been recommended as a first stage of archaeological mitigation works in advance of the development. |
