Abstract: |
An archaeological evaluation identified two features of archaeological interest were recorded during the work. These were charcoal and ash filled pits, one of which was radiocarbon dated to the middle Saxon period, and may be evidence for charcoal burning for a nearby smithing site. The site had subsequently been extensively ploughed using a rotary plough which will have removed any shallow archaeological deposits. |
