Abstract:		 The watching brief was conducted at the bequest of Don Riley on behalf of St Margaret Hill Property (UK) Ltd. The archaeological watching brief, which was unrelated to a planning application, observed and, when possible, recorded the archaeological strata removed during groundworks undertaken between the 5th and 6th August 2008. The archaeological watching brief demonstrated that numerous phases of stratified archaeological deposits dating to the pre-Roman, Roman, post-Roman and post medieval period exist on site. However, rather then informing and preserving our archaeological heritage, this exercise has succeeded in informing of what has been lost.
