Abstract: |
Archaeological field evaluation by trial trenching on the site of the former magistrates' court at Verney Close, Buckingham. The evaluation has successfully demonstrated the nature and state of preservation of the deposits encountered. These were largely post-medieval and modern in origin and highly truncated; they included wall foundations, domestic refuse pits, levelling layers and a probable quarry pit. There was no evidence for medieval or earlier occupational, industrial or agricultural exploitation of the proposed development area. |
