Abstract: |
North Pennines Archaeology Ltd. were commissioned by David Haig of the David Harrison Group, to undertake an archaeological trial trench evaluation of land at York Road, Malton, North Yorkshire (NGR SE 7710 7050) in order to provide information in support of a planning application for a proposed mixed use development at the site. A previous archaeological appraisal determined that archaeological remains existed within the proposed development area in the form of earthworks that were thought to represent relict ridge and furrow features associated with medieval cultivation. The results obtained during the evaluation suggest that the study area has not been intensively used in the past other than for agricultural purposes. |
