Abstract:		 A watching brief was observed during the excavation of 17 geo-technical test pits dug as part of a flood defence scheme. A series of glacial and alluvial deposits was observed, including preserved wood that may indicate the pressence of buried prehistoric surfaces at c.2.5-3.5m below ground level.
