Abstract: |
Allen Archaeology Limited was commissioned by Niven Architects to undertake an archaeological evaluation by trial trenching on land at St. Bede's Catholic Voluntary Academy in Scunthorpe, North Lincolnshire. The works were located within the school playing field running parallel with Collum Avenue. A desk-based assessment of the site had shown little archaeological activity within the site area. The two evaluation trenches confirmed the lack of activity when only a modern boundary ditch and field drain was unearthed. However a possible buried topsoil and earlier subsoil suggest a possibility for earlier archaeology to have survived the modern landscaping of the school playing field. |
