Abstract: |
A watching brief was conducted by John Moore Heritage Services during excavation for a new two storeyed dwelling, access and parking (08/01137/F) at 129 Bicester Rd, Gosford, Oxfordshire (SP 5027 1355). A total of four site visits were made intermittently from 14th May - 6th December 2012. The monitored ground works involved excavation of beam trenches between existing concrete piles and service trenching. Two undated features were recorded and one sherd of post-medieval pottery was recovered from the subsoil. A dump of stone was noted within subsoil at the north-eastern corner of the site which may have been created as result of waste building material or an area of hard standing. As this stone was within subsoil it was considered to be post-medieval in date. No other archaeological features or finds were discovered. |
