Abstract: |
A series of test pits were monitored during groundworks in advance of the construction of proposed pile cap excavation in the area of 2-4 Bedale Street, as part of the Thameslink Borough Market Viaduct development. A test pit in 2 Bedale Street revealed a sandy silt layer containing Roman pottery, beneath an undated silty clay deposit and the modern concrete slab. Natural strata were not seen. |
