Abstract: |
A heritage statement prepared to inform a planning application for a waste recovery and processing development. The site is currently vacant and was previously used as a public waste recycling facility. There are no recorded heritage assets within the site although the site does lie within the Wandle Valley Alluvium Archaeological Priority Area therefore there is potential for palaeoenvironmental and archaeological evidence although this was likely to be at a depth of at least 5m so the development would not impact upon this. It was considered unlikely that prehistoric or Roman settlement was located within the development site and it was anticipated that Medieval and early post medieval settlements would have been located around known settlement areas. The site was undeveloped in the late post-medieval period. As a result, no further assessment or archaeological mitigation was recommended. |
