Abstract:
Trial-trenching undertaken in advance of a second phase of tree planting at The Chase, Elmstead Market has revealed mostly undatable features and a small quantity of prehistoric pottery and worked flint. It is conjectured that some of the remains represent the site of an Early to Middle Iron Age farmstead on the high ground overlooking the valley of the Tenpenny Brook.
