Abstract:
This Archaeological and Heritage Desk-Based Assessment has been prepared by to inform a planning application for a proposed new food store and associated highways works at St Peter's Park, Wells Road, Westfield, Radstock, Bath and North-East Somerset. Although the site is situated adjacent to a major Roman Road there is little evidence to suggest roadside settlement in this area. The site has already been significantly impacted by development. Much of the site was developed as a shoe factory in the later 20th century, which will have had a detrimental effect on any previously unrecorded remains. In the light of both the prior disturbance and the lack of recorded evidence for archaeological deposits the heritage potential of the site is considered to be Very Low.
