Abstract: |
The Site comprises an area of some 0.5 ha. The Site is bordered to the west by the Wallington estuary (and a line of trees along the bank), to the north by the A27, and to the east and south by the internal Cams Estate access road. It is considered that the archaeological potential of the Site is low. Only one possible archaeological feature, an un-dated post hole, was identified during the evaluation, and as other similar, but clearly modern features were identified within the Site, and modern fencing material (fence post fragments and barbed wire) were located within near-by modern disturbance, it would seem likely that this feature is also modern. The modern finds within topsoil and subsoil layers within the eastern portion of the Site are also indicative of considerable modern disturbance. |
