Abstract: |
The strip revealed a 10th century oven and associated post holes on a slope above the River Gwash. Environmental evidence suggested the oven was used for drying wheat, though it may also have been used for baking. Similar evidence from an undated probable former channel of the River Gwash suggested refuse from the oven may have been dumped there. There was also an undated linear feature, probably a former field boundary. |
