Fifteen pottery teachers and history teachers co-operated to build three experimental kilns to the pattern of Highgate Wood Kiln 2. The process is described, with timings noted (average 8 hours per kiln). Part 2 describes the throwing of the pots and the firing of the kilns. Even with inexperienced staff, saleable pots were being produced within a fortnight, mostly from the site's natural resources; and a skilled potter with adequate assistance should be able to produce 1000 vessels (5-6 kiln loads) in just over a week.
