Abstract:
Evaluation trenches and monitoring was undertaken at the site. A 6m wide ditch was identified. The ditch formed part of the outer ring of Chipping Hill Camp, a hillfort constructed in the Late Bronze Age and refortified in the Middle Iron Age and reoccupied at intervals. Due to the shallow nature of the foundations only the top layers were excavated, which contained finds from the medieval use of the enclosure. Two intercutting post-medieval quarry pits were also identified. [Au(abr)]
