Abstract:
Wessex Archaeology was commissioned by Knight Frank LLP to prepare an Archaeological Impact Assessment as an addendum to an existing desk based assessment for the site of a proposed wind turbine at East House Farm, Guyzance, Northumberland This report comprises an Archaeological Impact Assessment focussed on addressing the potential impact of the new turbine on buried archaeological remains within its new location. This Assessment should be read in conjunction with the existing desk based assessment (AAG 2012). Relevant sources of information relating to the heritage resource within a 2km Study Area have been considered to provide a context for the discussion and interpretation of the known and potential resource within the Site. The Site itself is located within a post-medieval agricultural landscape with medieval antecedence. Ridge and furrow cultivation can be seen within the Study Area on land currently under pasture. The field within which the Site is located is used for arable agriculture and this may have resulted in damage to earlier cultivation ridges. Any potential remains of medieval or post-medieval ridge and furrow would be considered to be of Local significance .
