Abstract: |
The site adjoined the monument of Maumbury Rings. A total of five pits were recorded at the site, some intercutting. Despite extensive truncation, struck flint, human and animal bone were encountered, certain examples pointing to a ritual or funerary utilisation of the site. Roman pottery and a single Roman coffin inhumation were also recorded. This was thought to be an isolated roadside burial and not part of a cemetery. [Au(adp)] |
