Abstract: |
Trial excavation was undertaken ahead of proposed development. The site is situated at what is possibly the western extent of the medieval/post-medieval town, well away from what is considered to be the focus of the Roman and early medieval activity. Five trial trenches were excavated, revealing features and possibly structures of medieval date. Some evidence of prehistoric and Roman activity in the area was located. It was anticipated that further archaeological work would be required should development proceed. [Au(abr)] |
