Abstract: |
The excavation of 11 small holes around the flight of steps down to the cistern located to the southwest of the French Prison at Dumbarton Castle was monitored. These holes were part of the works to install a new handrail. Masonry seen in these holes was thought likely to represent an access structure pre-dating the modern steps currently in place. |
