Abstract: |
Two evaluation trenches were excavated on the site. No archaeological features or structural remains were present, nor were any stray finds recovered. In addition two geoarchaeological boreholes were sunk using a Cobra power auger. A series of samples were taken from the resulting cores of alluvial deposits. Carbon 14 dating showed a thick peat deposit began accumulating in the Late Mesolithic (4700-4440 BC) and continued into the Neolithic to Bronze Age (800-520 BC). |
