Abstract: |
Monitoring during construction of the new City Information Centre exposed rubble of 19th\20th-century buildings destroyed by World War Two bombing. On the eastern extremity of the site, a fragment of chalk wall foundation, preserved in a party wall or an area without basements, was observed. This may date from the medieval or post-medieval period. Natural strata were not reached. |
